Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 - 2009
Does anyone remember 4Kids TV? I lived for that rush I got when I tuned in Saturday and Sunday mornings, hoping to catch an episode or two of this show, in particular. You could cut yourself on the early 2000s edge, which I think happpened to a lot of even kid's media immediately post-9/11. Things got grittier, a little darker, a little more intense, including a TV show about talking turtles that love pizza. My favorite part about this show has to be some of the side characters, though. My favorite version of Leatherhead exists in this show, and it was what first introduced me to Usagi Yojimbo in the crossover episodes, so thank you for that algorithm pull, FOX. It also introduced me to, brace for it, FANFIC. It was over from there! I found several old forums I used to browse, though some of the ones I remember may be lost to time now. I continue to dig.

Inu Yasha 2000 - 2004
This is a special one for me. My siblings and I didn't always get along so well, growing up, especially my younger brother and I. We couldn't really connect, had different interests, there was a big age gap, ect. The one thing we could all seem to enjoy, though? This show. I started reading it in 4th grade, brought home the show, and, to my surprise, they both liked it. So, we watched it together. One of the few things we could agree on, I guess. I dunno, that just felt important, somehow.
